We Can Be a Little Crabby in Kamalame Cay

April 01, 2019

The 'Androsians' are serious about their crab season, and because crabs comprise more than half of the population, it is known as "The Land of Crabs." As we head out of the dry season and into the rainy season, land crabs become more plentiful and ready to be harvested. Summer is quickly approaching, which means it is time for Andros Island’s most anticipated event—Crab Fest! People travel from all over the islands and the world for this event, which features crab cooked in 101 ways, a crab cultural show, releasing of the crabs, a crab culinary contest, crabs of Andros life cycle display, and Rake & Scrape music. Learn about the crabbing industry of the Bahamas while chowing down on crab soup and jamming out to live music. You can be a spectator or try your best to find these sneaky, sand-lovers. No matter which side you choose, there is sure to be a delicious meaty treat at the end! Book your stay at the Cay and join the Annual Andros Crab Fest, June 20 - 22, 2019.
