Snorkeling
Snorkeling is an activity guests of all ages can safely enjoy at Kamalame. The water off the beach is shallow on the south side, perfect for wading, kayaking and hunting for shells. From the Spa North, the water is deeper providing the opportunity for a quick dip or a way to exercise off the afternoon cookies. Andros Island's barrier reef is alive with an incredible diversity of beautiful fish and colorful coral.
Just minutes away, Staniard Rock has the uniquely spectacular "circle of coral"; it is easily some of the most remarkable snorkeling in the Bahamas. At low tide a garden of Elkhorn coral is exposed. Beautiful breakers crash over the reef, yet there is ample room behind the waves to explore the maze of coral heads. Be sure to keep your eyes open for turtles, nurse sharks, spotted eagle rays, and colorful tropical fish.
Exploring the Rat Cay Blue Hole is not to be missed. This trip can be coordinated with a relaxing picnic lunch at Saddleback Cay.
Snorkel and explore on your own or let our experienced guides show you their favorite sites. We have all the equipment you'll need and we will even pack a delicious picnic lunch. Don't miss the chance to experience the breathtaking underwater world of Andros Island - it's just outside your villa's front door!
The Marina
The Kamalame marina has eight 22-ft by 50-ft slips, all of which have 8-ft depth at low water. The channel at the creek entrance is marked and has a 5.5-ft depth at high tide and 2-ft at low tide. There is also a channel marker to the north of Staniard Rock to guide passage through the barrier reef.

Eco Tours
Andros Island is the largest yet one of the least known of the 700 islands in the Bahamas archipelago. From a diverse collection of tropical plants and birds to unusual geology, Andros offers an abundance of options for the nature lover. Explore the ecology on a variety of nature trails or spend a day visiting sights such as Morgan's Bluff, the highest point on the island. Seek treasure in a cave or ponder the days of slavery while among the ruins of slave homes. Examine life in the small, remote settlement of Red Bays where basket-making and sponging remain the principle industry. There is much to see on Andros Island-- something new for each visit.
Andros Island, North
Go back in time at Red Bays and watch the best basket makers on Andros ply their craft. Search out sponges, investigate the Bahamian craftsman's woodcarvings, or visit Money Point for an invertebrate search where millions of creatures roam the tidal flat. The option is yours; swim in an ocean blue hole, snorkel on the reef, or experience a freshwater dip in Charlie's, our most popular inland blue hole.
Windsurfing & Sea Kayaks
You may want to consider paddling one of our sea-kayaks through the gentle inland creeks that meet the sea at Kamalame's doorstep or test the ocean on our nearby shores. Quietly glide by shore birds, spot bonefish and experience the sea life that inhabits our shallow waters. It's a great way to see Andros Island's fascinating creatures. Guided sea-kayak trips that include lunch are easily arranged.
Tennis
Kamalame has a regulation tennis court that overlooks the ocean, so bring your own racket or borrow one of ours to get some exercise and keep your swing in tune.
Romance
Kamalame offers romantic dinners for two on the beach with your own personal chef as well as private picnics on deserted cays. Pamper yourselves in our over-the-water Spa, or enjoy a private seaplane day trip to a far-flung destination. The possibilities are endless.
We can arrange a private candlelit dinner for two, anywhere on our three miles of starlit beach. You'll be seated at a flower decked table, ringed with flaming Tikki torches while your personal chef prepares your evening dinner and generously pours champagne -- a perfect setting for that special romantic celebration. Truly an experience to remember!
Consider being dropped off at an offshore deserted island with your special someone, picnic basket in hand, on a totally uninhabited beach for as many hours as you desire.
Experience the adventure of a seaplane day trip -- let Safari Seaplanes collect you at the Cay in the morning for a flyout over Andros. Fly to one of the more remote spots on Andros where no car can drive, land on an interior lake and have a drink, or fly to Nassau to enjoy a day of dining and shopping or try your luck at a casino.
An overnight stay in Nassau can be arranged.

Fishing
The ocean waters just minutes from Kamalame's dock offer some of the most productive fishing in The Bahamas. We are privileged to have two distinct fishing options. Climb aboard one of our guided flats boats to chase the elusive Bahamas bonefish through the shallow waters and flats that surround Kamalame, or try your luck on one of our deep sea boats and fish the world's third longest barrier reef for tuna, dolphin (mahi mahi), wahoo and barracuda. A day trip on the ocean is great family or group fun. Full or half day trips are available.
